Troubleshooting
computer with the communications cable connected:
Windows runs the mouse driver when it starts up, and
this prevents the Pen from accessing the port. To solve
this problem, uninstall the mouse drivers you are no
longer using on this port. Booting your computer without
the cable attached may temporarily solve this problem.
If these techniques do not solve the problem:
• Run the Communications Wizard (see p. 110). If this
doesn’t help:
• Restart the Desktop. If this doesn’t help:
• Restart Windows.
• If none of these suggestions solves the problem, contact
Technical Support.
Updating
Problem:
Applications are missing from the Pen after it has been
updated. PC-Controlled Communications may be
replaced in the Main Menu by “Communications.”
Solution:
The update did not reinstall all of the files that are necessary
for normal operation of the Pen. The Communications and
PC-Controlled Communications menu items actually
perform the same functions; only their names are different.
To correct this problem:
1. Make sure that the Pen’s batteries have at least 2.5 volts
of power left (see p. 92). If they do not, replace them
before continuing.
2. Run the update again.
