Power-savingmodes
Thereareseveralmodesthatyoucanuseatanytimetoconservepower.Thissectionintroduceseach
modeandgivestipsontheeffectiveuseofthebatterypower.
Sleepmode
Insleepmode,yourworkissavedtomemory,andthenthestoragedriveandthecomputerdisplayare
turnedoff.Whenyourcomputerwakesup,yourworkisrestoredwithinseconds.
Toputyourcomputerintosleepmode,opentheStartmenu,clickthepowericon,thenclickSleep.
Hibernationmode
Byusingthismode,youcanturnoffyourcomputercompletelywithoutsavingfilesorexitingany
programsthatarerunning.Whenthecomputerentershibernationmode,allopenprograms,folders,and
filesaresavedtothestoragedrive,andthenthecomputerturnsoff.
Toputthecomputerintohibernationmode,definewhatthepowerbuttondoesfirst,thenpressthepower
buttontoputthecomputerintohibernationmode.Formoreinformation,see“Right-sideview”onpage2
.
Ifyouputyourcomputerintohibernationmodewiththewake-upfunctiondisabled,thecomputerdoes
notconsumeanypower.Thewake-upfunctionisdisabledbydefault.Ifyouputyourcomputerinto
hibernationmodewiththewake-upfunctionenabled,thecomputerconsumesasmallamountofpower.
Toenablethewake-upfunction,dothefollowing:
1.GotoControlPanelandclickSystemandSecurity.
2.ClickAdministrativeT ools.
3.ClickT askScheduler.Ifyouarepromptedforanadministratorpasswordorconfirmation,typethe
passwordorprovideconfirmation.
4.Fromtheleftpane,selectthetaskfolderforwhichyouwanttoenablethewake-upfunction.The
scheduledtasksaredisplayed.
5.Clickascheduledtask,andthenclicktheConditionstab.
6.UnderPower,selectthecheckboxforWakethecomputertorunthistask.
Wirelessoff
Whenyouarenotusingthewirelessfeatures,suchasBluetoothorwirelessLAN,turnthemoff.Thiswill
helpconservepower.Toturnoffthewirelessfeatures,pressthewireless-switchingkey
.
Connectingtothenetwork
YourcomputerhasoneormorenetworkcardsthatenableyoutoconnectyourcomputertotheInternet
andothernetworkconnections.
Ethernetconnections
YoucanconnectyourcomputertoalocalnetworkorabroadbandconnectionthroughtheOneLink+
EthernetAdapterorasupportedThinkPadOneLink+Dock.

Toavoidtheriskofelectricalshock,donotconnectthetelephonecabletotheEthernetconnector
