Iftheseitemsarecorrectlyset,andthescreenremainsblank,havethecomputerserviced.
•Problem:WhenIturnonthecomputer,onlyawhitepointerisdisplayedonablankscreen.
Solution:Ifyouhavemodifiedapartitiononyourharddiskdriveorhybriddrivebyusingpartition
software,informationaboutthatpartition,orthemasterbootrecordmighthavebeendestroyed.
1.Turnoffthecomputer,andthenturnitonagain.
2.Ifyoustillseeonlythepointeronthescreen,dothefollowing:
–Ifyouhaveusedthepartitionsoftware,examinethepartitionontheharddiskdriveorhybriddrive
byusingthesoftware,andrecoverthepartitionifrequired.
–Usetherecoverysolutionstorestorethesystem.
Iftheproblempersists,havethecomputerserviced.
Externalmonitorproblems
•Problem:Theexternalmonitorisblank.
Solution:Tobringuptheimage,pressthedisplaymode-switchingkeyandselectthedesired
monitor.Iftheproblempersists,dothefollowing:
1.Connecttheexternalmonitortoanothercomputertoensurethatitworks.
2.Reconnecttheexternalmonitortoyourcomputer.
3.Refertothemanualshippedwiththeexternalmonitortochecktheresolutionsandrefreshratesthat
aresupported.
–Iftheexternalmonitorsupportsthesameresolutionasthecomputerdisplayorahigherresolution,
viewoutputontheexternalmonitororonboththeexternalmonitorandthecomputerdisplay.
–Iftheexternalmonitorsupportsalowerresolutionthanthecomputerdisplay,viewoutputonthe
externalmonitoronly.(Ifyouviewoutputonboththecomputerdisplayandtheexternalmonitor,
theexternalmonitorscreenwillbeblankordistorted.)
•Problem:Youcannotsetahigherresolutionthanthepresentoneonyourexternalmonitor.
Solution:Makesurethatthemonitortypeandotherinformationiscorrect.Ifnecessary,updatethe
monitordriver.See“Usinganexternaldisplay”onpage39.
•Problem:Thescreenisunreadableordistorted.
Solution:Ensurethat:
–Themonitorinformationiscorrectandtheappropriatemonitortypeisselected.Refertothesolution
totheaboveproblem.
–Ensurethatanappropriaterefreshrateisselectedbydoingthefollowing:
1.Connecttheexternalmonitortoyourcomputer,andthenconnecttheexternaldisplaytoan
electricaloutlet.
2.Turnontheexternalmonitorandthecomputer.
3.Right-clickonthedesktop,andclickDisplaysettings,showthedisplayedwindowinfullscreen,
andthenclickAdvanceddisplaysettings.
Note:Ifyourcomputercannotdetecttheexternaldisplay,clicktheDetectbutton.
4.Clicktheiconforthedesiredmonitor(theMonitor-2iconisfortheexternalmonitor).
5.ClickDisplayadapterproperties.
6.ClicktheMonitortab.
7.Selectthecorrectscreenrefreshrate.
