Palm OS Installations
"
Professional and Enterprise Editions only.
Use the Mobile Devices page to create an installation for devices running Palm OS.
If you add a Palm OS application to an installation and there are multiple Palm users on
the target computer, then an additional dialog appears during installation if the user
selects Custom on the Installation Type Dialog. This dialog, named Palm User
Information, lists the Palm users who regularly use this computer to perform a HotSync.
During installation, mark the checkboxes of those users who should have this software
installed into their Palm User directories. Software is only installed to the Palm User
directory if you mark the Install File to Palm User Folder During Installation
checkbox on the Palm File Details dialog, as outlined in the procedure below.
If this installation was created in an earlier version of Wise for Windows Installer, it
might not contain the Palm User Information dialog. To add this dialog, see Creating a
New Dialog on page 434. Without this dialog, the application is installed by default to all
Palm users if the Install File to Palm User Folder During Installation checkbox is
marked.
Uninstall of this application is controlled by the Palm device. Uninstalling the application
from the desktop computer has no affect on the application that is installed on the Palm
device.
To create a Palm OS installation:
1. Start the Palm wizard by doing one of the following:
On the Mobile Devices page, click Add at the right of the page and select Palm
OS. Use this method to add the mobile device installation to an existing
installation. (If the Mobile Devices page is not visible, select All from the Page
Views drop-down list in Installation Expert.)

the Predefined Templates category. Use this method to add the mobile device
installation to a new installation.
The Application Information dialog appears.
2. Complete the dialog and click Next:

Enter the name of the application you are installing. This is used to display the
name of the mobile device entry on the Mobile Devices page.
Desktop Directory

plan to add to the Palm device. This is simply a holding area for the files to
enable their being copied to Palm-specific directories. The files in this directory
are uninstalled when the .MSI is uninstalled from the desktop computer.
Typically, this would be a directory under the Program Files directory.
The Palm OS Files dialog appears.
3. Click Add, specify a file, and complete the Palm File Details dialog:
•File Name
Specify the name for the file when it is installed onto the Palm device.
Source Pathname
This specifies the source path for the file you added.
