Orientating the Antenna Using a Compass
Before powering up the antenna, it is important to orient the antenna in the general direction of the
satellite. Failure to point the antenna in the general direction of the SDT-5000 will cause the unit to
go into a Channel Search, which could take as long as fifteen minutes to complete. Steps to point
the antenna using the compass provided are described below.
1. Refer to the Antenna Positioning Map (see figure 2) for the correct positioning of the SDT-
5000.
NOTE:
The below map diagram may vary 5 to 10 degrees, in regards to Elevation and
Azimuth, depending on the specific location. It is provided solely as an aid to assist
in positioning the SDT-5000.
