country and local electrical codes to provide some protection against damage caused by
near-miss
lightning strikes and other electrical discharges. The Stinger Ethernet surge suppressor is such
a
device for this
situation.
Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to the Stinger subscriber module RJ-45
connector.
Connect other end of the Ethernet cable to the RJ-45 connector in the Stinger
surge
suppressor. Refer to the
Surge Suppressor User Manual for
specifications.
Connect one end of another Ethernet cable to the other RJ-45 connector in the
Stinger
Surge
Suppressor.
Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the AC
adapter.
The unused pins of the Ethernet cable (4,5,7 and 8) transmit power to the
Stinger
subscriber module. DO NOT place other networking equipment on the Ethernet
cable
between the AC adapter and the subscriber module. The module can be up to 328
feet
(100 meters) from the power
supply.
Plug the AC Adapter into an AC
outlet.
Plug the other side of the AC adapter’s Ethernet “pig tail” into the computer or
network
computer’s Ethernet port.
DO NOT plug the Ethernet “pig tail” from the AC adapter into
the
subscriber module. See following wiring
diagram.
