12020 “DOUBLE PAGE FED”
WHAT HAPPENED
The Double Page sensor sensed more than one page as it was fed
throught the sensor.
For an optical sensor: The sensing light beam goes through one page but
not two or more pages.
For an ultrasonic sensor: The ultrasonic beam senses an air gap
between two or more pages.
ACTION TO TAKE
Adjust the Feed singulator properly. Only one sheet should be fed.
Check the Double Page sensor adjustment.
For an optical sensor: Adjust the amplifier so the sensing light beam goes
through one page but not two or more pages.
The optical sensor is sensitive to print and marking on the page.
Adjust Engin. Value 33 Number of Double Detect Sample Counts to take
2 or 3 or more checks before flagging an error.
For an ultrasonic sensor: Verify the correct spacing between the two
sensor heads.
The ultrasonic sensor is NOT sensitive to print and marking on the page.
Adjust Eng. Value 33 Number of Double Detect Sample Counts to 1
check before flagging an error.
ANY OTHER ADJUSTMENTS
12021 “Below Minimum Speed”
WHAT HAPPENED
At power transition on, average Feeder Speed did not reach and settle at
a speed over 60 inches per second.
ACTION TO TAKE
Did the motor start?
No?
Check the motor, motor controller, and the connections and wiring to
these.
Yes.
Check the ‘blue dart’ feeder speed encoder and its connections.
In Test-IO144 look for transitions on the Feeder Speed Encoder Input as
the Feeder take away shaft is turned by hand.
ANY OTHER ADJUSTMENTS
Turn up the Feeder Speed dial.
Check the motor controller setups.
12022 “LONG PAGE FED”
WHAT HAPPENED
The lead edge of a page fed was seen at the Feed Sensor, but the trail
edge was not seen within a time.
The time used is calculated based on the feeder speed and length of the
sheet set in System Setup.
ACTION TO TAKE
Adjust the Feed singulator properly. The sheet should not be held back
by the singulator.
Adjust Engin. Value 35, Feed Control Brake Delay Time higher. The
sheet should not be held back by the singulator.
Check Feeder Setup, Pulse Feed is set to Read. This cycles the Feeder
clutch and brake on every page fed and forces a gap between sheets.
Check the Feed Sensor adjustment.
ANY OTHER ADJUSTMENTS
