Service manual
To help understand the "Input/Output (I/O) Test" screen it needs a little
introduction. We will concentrate on only the block of numbers on the left
side of the screen. At the top there are two rows of numbers. The numbers
in the top row are assigned interrupts for the Input & Output system
hardware addresses in the second row.
More importantly the rows and columns of 0's and 1's indicate a particular
point for all inputs and outputs on the machine. The rows of the main body
are specific ports which relate to the machine's "Interconnect Board". The
screen shows six ports 0 to 5. The machine only uses the top 0, 1 and 2.
The physical Circuit board known as ports are also called "Opto Racks" on
which input and output relay modules are installed in the machine. Each
port (Opto Rack) has the capability for 24 input or output modules. Each row
starting with 0 has 24 positions to the right and each position is either an
input or output which can be toggled for purposes of testing.
We are only concerned with the left block of input and outputs on this screen
as the right hand side is reserved for future use.
The point display line two/thirds of the way down the screen will announce
the relay module ("device") that has been indicated by the cursor.
At the bottom of the screen there are arrows that will permit the cursor to be
moved to a specific point and a "Toggle" button that will cause a change in
the "Output" point from "on to off" or ‘off to on".
• Using the arrow keys move the cursor to the desired input or output using
the “Port” and “Point” information from the I/O Reference tables following.
• The name of the output or input will be announced when the cursor is
positioned on its "Port" and "Point" location block.
• Inputs will change state when sensors are blocked or an encoder is
rotated.
• Use the “Toggle” button to toggle the outputs on and off. (Interlocks
must be closed and Master Relay output 1:3 (see table 1) must be
toggled ON for this to function.)
