SECTION A INTRODUCTION
A.1 INTRODUCTION TO THE MANUAL
This manual is intended for service technicians and is organized to enhance
preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of the 420T. Installation
of the 420T is also described.
A.2 INTRODUCTION TO THE MACHINE
A.2a FEEDER SECTION
The 420T’s feeder is bottom fed, top loading for continuous operation, with a
capacity of 1500 sheets (20 lb stock) using the GBR Systems Creeper
Conveyor.
Creeper Conveyor
The Creeper conveyor comprises two black rubber belts (1) driven by a
motor (3) located on the bottom side of the hopper. Controlled by a paper
level detector, the motor is activated when the detector indicates that paper
has run low. When the paper level detector has triggered it sends a demand
to the creeper to start the two long belts, carrying the paper, moving in the
direction of the feeder’s paper hopper and guided by the two side rails (2).
The belts continue to move paper into the hopper until the demand wand
(level detector) has been triggered to turn the belts off. This process
continues until the machine is shut down. If the operator does not feed the
creeper conveyor with additional stock and the paper hopper runs out of
paper then machine will shut down indicating a no-feed error.
