IDE Pri mary Mas ter
Press ing [En ter], when this item is high lighted, al lows for se lec tion of how
pa rame ters for the hard drive will be de ter mined. The choices are :
None - No Hard Drive is in stalled
Auto - Auto mati cally de tect the hard disk pa rame ters at power- up
(Rec ommended Set ting)
Man ual - Use the pa rame ters en tered manu ally by the user
Ac cess Mode
Press ing [En ter] when this op tion is high lighted al lows se lec tion of the hard disk
ac cess mode. The choices are :
CHS - The drive will be ac cessed us ing di rect Cyl in der, Head, Sec tor mode.
No transla tion will take place. This can only be used when the “man ual”
mode is se lected above.
LBA - This se lec tion al lows the na tive mode of the drive to be trans lated to
Cyl in der, head, and sec tor counts that are com pati ble with al low able
BIOS pa rame ter re stric tions. Drives up to 120GB can be used with
this mode.
LARGE - This is an other trans la tion scheme that is not com monly used but may
be re quired for some O/Ss.
AUTO - This mode chooses the ap pro pri ate trans la tion mode (usu ally LBA) for
the ac tual drive at tached. (Rec om mended Set ting)
Drive Pa rame ters/Size
The drive size in MB is dis played for all modes. When man ual and CHS modes are
se lected the user may en ter val ues into these fields :
Cyl in der - 0 to 65535
Head - 0 to 255
Pre comp - 0 to 65535
Land ing Zone - 0 to 65535
Sec tor - 0 to 255
