Refilling the loadcell
The most efficient way of filling a loadcell
and gauge is by using a vacuum pump
unit. This is normal practice.
However, where this special equipment is
not available, the operation can in some
instances be carried out by hand, if care is
taken and the following procedure
adopted:
Place the loadcell (20) in the vice (21) with
the button (14) on one jaw, and the inlet
for oil (15) upwards.
Fill the loadcell with Brake and Clutch
Fluid, and at the same time slightly
compress the vice not more than 1.6mm
(1/16"), and let it return.
Repeat the procedure several times. This
will remove air bubbles.
It must be remembered that when the
loadcell is in use on the machine, the total
amount of compression is less than
1.6mm (l/16"). Therefore, when
compressing this in a vice, it must be
remembered that under no circumstances
exceed 1.6mm (1/16"), otherwise damage
to the '0' ring seals may occur.
Before completely filling the loadcell (20),
remove it from the vice (21), hold it in your
hand with the button (14) downwards, and
give a series of taps on the base of the
loadcell with the other hand. This will
remove all remaining air locks.
Replace the loadcell (20) in the vice (21)
and compress a few more times. Continue
filling to the point of overflow.
Remove from the vice and place to one
side with the oil filling end upwards.
Air bubbles may still be present in fluid.
To remove, secure loadcell (20) in vice
(21) with union hole (15) upwards.
Fill with oil.
Move vice handle, compressing loadcell
not more than 1.6mm (1/16"), then
release.
Repeat this process several times.
