Technical information

DRUM CLUTCH ADJUSTMENT
When the drum clutch shows a tendency
to slip, adjust as follows:
Set drum control lever in MIX position
and rotate nut to allow 3mm (1/8") of
sliding gland (short) to protrude beyond
the end of the clevis pin assembly, then
lock in position with the locking nut
provided.
Repeat this operation with drum control
lever set in the DISCHARGE position
but rotate nut to allow 3mm (1/8") of
sliding gland (long) to protrude beyond
the end of the clevis pin assembly.
Lock in position with locking nut
provided.
DRIVE CHAIN ADJUSTMENT
On no account must the chain be
over-tightened; undue tension causes
excessive strain, vibration and
considerable wear.
The chain is adjusted by slackening the
nuts holding the adjustable bearing
bracket and moving the bracket by means
of the adjusting screw.
Permissible chain deflection is 8mm to
12mm, halfway between chain gears.
Access is obtained by removing cover.
Re-tighten bracket bolts and lock adjusting
screw with locking nut provided.
The chain tension can be checked
through the inspection aperture in the
chain cover, but first remove inspection
cover plate.
DRAGLINE FEEDER
Check dynamo brushes periodically.
The regulator cut-outs should be
maintained at 12.5 to 13 volts.
If the electric cable to the shovel needs
repairing, it should not be shortened to
less than 19.8 metres (65 feet).
WATER TANK AND WATER PUMP
Every month:
Remove top cover.
Clean and grease valve mechanism.
If a water pump is fitted,
ensure water supply has been
turned on before starting
engine.
Water pumps must never be
run dry.
BATCH WEIGHER
To ensure maximum efficiency, keep the
weighing mechanism as clean as
possible.
Avoid build-up of material around link
pivots.
Do not allow aggregate to accumulate on
the ground under the hopper.
Do not drop loaded hopper onto loadcell,
as unnecessary damage will occur to the
sealing rings and gauge pointer.
Also, do not leave a loaded hopper resting
on the loadcell as again damage to the
sealing rings will occur.
Note: On no account must the loadcell be
disconnected from the weighing dial. No
responsibility will be taken if the lead seals
which are attached to the pipe unions are
broken.
DRUM EDGE ROLLER
ADJUSTMENT
These should be set to allow up to 1.5mm
(1/16”) total clearance from the drum
track.
It is essential that the rollers should not be
set tight, as this would result in the
overloading of the bearings.
Fixing screws must be wire locked after
fitting.
