Installation of COM Ports

With Windows or Linux operating systems pre-installed by Wincor

Nixdorf, all COM interfaces have already been installed.

Please note the installation for the Touch Screen (see chapter

“Preparing the POSBOARD for the Touch Screen Installation”, page 5)

This section describes the installation of COM ports on BEETLE /iPOS

systems, that were not pre-installed by Wincor Nixdorf.

Windows NT4

It is good practice to run BIOS setup and check for correct setting of port

COM3: to COM5: (COM6:) before start of installation.

You can confirm all the following settings by (multiple) clicks on

OK NEXT or FINISHED button.

 Install OEM Windows NT4 from CD.

 Then install: Network adapter (onboard), Intel graphics driver, audio.

 Run START Æ CONTROL PANEL Æ PORTS

 Select „ADD NEW“

 Set resources as indicated in table „BEETLE COM Port Resources“

(see below).

Even if the dialog box does not offer the required I/O setting, you

can enter I/O port from the table in the corresponding field by

keyboard.
