Part I FrontPage Essentials
To assign a theme, follow these steps:
1. With your Web open, select Format Theme from the FrontPage menu. You
can do this from any view.
2. Click one of the themes that appear in the Theme list on the right side of the
interface. You see a small sample of a theme provided on each button. Use the
checkboxes at the bottom to experiment with Vivid Colors, Active Graphics,
or a Background Picture, as shown in Figure 1-9.

3. When you settle on just the right theme to suit your image, click the button to
apply it to your Web site.
You can sneak a peek at your Web pages now by double-clicking a page in
Navigation view to open it in Page view. However, you will better appreciate the
impact of themes after you add shared borders, covered in the next section.
Themes collect many elements of global page design, two of which are font and
paragraph attributes. These attributes can also be applied through inline format-
ting or Cascading Style Sheets. (Style Sheets are covered in Chapter 11.)
Adding shared borders
Along with themes, you can apply universal characteristics to all pages in your Web
site by applying shared borders. These shared borders are often used, at least in
