What’s New in Microsoft SharePoint 2010
Summary
In this chapter, you were introduced to SharePoint Server 2010, including many of its new
features and upgrades from Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS 2007).
The requirements of the hardware and software platform for SharePoint Server 2010

include 64-bit server hardware and 64-bit Windows Server 2008 Standard or 64-bit
Windows Server 2008 Standard R2 and 64-bit SQL Server 2005 or 2008.
The advantages of running SharePoint Server 2010 in a 64-bit environment include

increased performance and scalability.
A wider base of client computer operating systems and web browsers is supported by

SharePoint Server 2010.




