It is often a good idea to also configure an
error message that displays when the user
tries to enter data outside of the range you
have specified. Follow steps 1 to 3 to open
the Data Validation dialog box, and then click
the Error Alert tab. Make sure the Show Error
Alert After Invalid Data is Entered check box is
selected (
), and then specify the Style, Title,
and Error Message.

9 Make sure the Show Input
Message When Cell Is Selected
check box is activated (

0 Type a message title.

display.

Remove It!
If you no longer need to use data
validation on a cell, you should clear
the settings. Follow steps 1 to 3 to
display the Data Validation dialog box
and then click the Clear All button.
Excel removes all the validation
criteria, as well as the input message
and the error alert. Click OK.
When the cell is selected, the
input message appears.
