Part I: The Basics
The site you are editing, regardless of whether it is on your current machine, is considered the local web
site. The Remote Web Site is usually considered the target of the synchronization. However, you have the
option of pulling information back from the remote site (essentially taking a snapshot of its current
state), or performing a two - way synchronization. When there are conflicting changes, SharePoint
Designer prompts you to decide which change takes precedence.
This function does not work for data stored in SharePoint Lists and Libraries.
Reporting Tools
In addition to the Accessibility, Compatibility, and CSS report task panes, SharePoint Designer offers a
wide array of Web Site reports. Figure 1 - 28 Shows the Site Summary report, which itself offers links into
many of the other reports available.
