QUICK START GUIDE BASIC ASSEMBLY For detailed assembly instruction consult the assembly section of this operators manual. 1. SAFETY The purpose of safety symbols is to attract your attention to possible dangers. The safety symbols, and their explanations deserve your careful attention and understanding. • Only use the trimming line described in the Specifications section of this manual. Never use metal-reinforced line, wire, chain or rope. These can break off and become dangerous projectiles. • Only use the supplied brush cutting blade or an appropriate replacement. • Be aware of risk of injury to the head, hands and feet. • Carefully inspect the area before starting the unit. Remove rocks, broken glass, nails, wire, string and other objects that may be thrown or become entangled with the unit.

4. Attach/detach cutting heads: a) Remove the brush cutting blade nut and flange. Line up the holes of flange and shield, use the hex key included to prevent the shaft from turning. Turn the included socket wrench clockwise. b) Attach/detach the string trimmer head. Line up the holes of flange and shield, use the hex key included to prevent the shaft from turning. To attach the string trimmer head turn clockwise until snug.
BEFORE OPERATION When operating this machine, please follow the instructions for operations steps. 1. Filling with fuel DANGER OF INJURY! FUEL IS EXPLOSIVE! Indicates danger, warning or caution. May be used in conjunction with other symbols or pictographs. RISK OF DEVICE DAMAGE! The device is supplied without motor or gearbox oil. Before operating you must fill it with fuel. Never use oil for 4-cycle engine use or water-cooled 2-cycle engines.
STARTING PROCEDURES Do not start the unit until it has been completely assembled. Before starting the unit, always check the oil. 1. Inspect the device before use DANGER OF INJURY! Do not operate the device if you find any faults. If a part has become damaged or defective, make sure to replace it before you use the device again. Check the safe condition of the device: • Check the device for leaks. • Check the device for visual defects.
4. Move choke lever to the RUN position. 5. Pull the starting cord again until the engine starts. 6. To begin trimming, press the lock lever down with your thumb and pull the throttle lever with your fingers to increase power. 7. T o adjust the line length while working: This trimmer is fitted with a “Bump-N-Feed” head. To release more line, tap the cutting line head against the ground with engine at top speed.
WARNING! Always make sure your work area is clear. Loose objects and small stones may be thrown by the unit during regular use. Always maintain a minimum working area of 50 feet (15 meters) or more. WARNING! Do not use the machine for sweeping or edging by tilting the cutting head. This could throw loose objects and small stones 15 meters or more, causing damage or injury to people.
CLEANING THE ENGINE To reduce the risk of fire or overheating, periodically clean the cylinder fins and air vents with compressed air and clear the silencer area to get rid of dust, branches, leaves or other debris. GENERAL INSPECTION Periodically check that all the nuts and screws are securely tightened and the hand grips are securely fastened. If you notice signs of wear on the starting cable, contact your dealer for a replacement. Frequently check for and replace any damaged parts.
REPLACING THE TRIMMER LINE 1. Align arrow & eyelet on the bottom of the trimming head by turning the top dial. 2. Insert the line by threading it through one eyelet and out the other eyelet on the other side of the trimming head. 3. Turn the dial clockwise to load trimmer string. Do not overfill the trimmer head. SHARPENING THE LINE CUTTING KNIFE • Remove the line cutting knife (1) from the guard (2) by unscrewing the screws (3).
Long-term Storage • Remove the fuel cap, tip the unit and drain the fuel into an approved container. Reinstall the fuel cap. • Start the engine and allow it to run until it stalls. This ensures that all fuel has been drained from the carburetor. • Allow the engine to cool. Remove the spark plug and put 5 drops of any high-quality motor oil or 2-cycle oil into the cylinder. Pull the starter rope slowly to distribute the oil. Reinstall the spark plug.
TROUBLESHOOTING PROBLEM SOLUTION THE ENGINE WILL NOT START The fuel tank is empty Fill the fuel tank with properly-mixed fuel The priming bulb was not pressed enough Press the primer bulb 10 times or until fuel is visible The engine is flooded Squeeze the throttle control and pull the starter rope until the engine starts The fuel is old (over 30 days) and/or improperly mixed Drain the fuel tank and add fresh, properly-mixed fuel The spark plug is fouled Clean or replace the spark plug The choke
