esen

,
playing noise
only
.
T
he
scanner
works
best
when
the
squelch ga
t
e
is
set
so
that it
is
closed
when
no
tr
ansmissions
are
pr
esen
t
,
but
able
to
open
when
a
desir
ed
tr
ansmission
oc
curs
.
The ideal setting
f
or
the
squelch
lev
el
is
between
9
and
11.
I
f
y
ou
find that
the
scanner seems
to
be
scanning
very
slo
wly
or
st
opping
on
frequencies
with
noise
only
,
incr
ease
the
squelch
lev
el
until
nor
mal
scanning
r
esumes
.
I
n
menus
,
the
rotar
y
encoder
scr
olls
up
and
down
thr
ough
the
menu
it
ems
and
a
single pr
ess
selec
ts
the
indicated
menu
option.

encoder

The
rotar
y
encoder can
be
used
to
adjust
the
backlight
lev
el
.
Press POWER
briefly
with
backlight
illumina
t
ed
,
then
rotate
the
encoder
to
incr
ease
or
decr
ease
brigh
tness
.
