Using your refrigerator FREEZER CO/NTROL REFRIGERATOR ;ONTROL EXTERIORM&T”RE CONTROL LIGHT SWITCH Setting the controls... Controls for the refrigerator and freezer are in the refrigerator. When the refrigerator is plugged in for the first time... Give the refrigerator pletely before adding time to cool down comfood. (This may take sev- eral hours.) These settings should be about right for normal household refrigerator usage. 1.
Adjusting the refrigerator shelves... To remove glass shelves: 1. Tilt up at front. Shelves can be adjusted to match the way you use your refrigerator. Glass shelves are strong enough to hold botties, milk and other heavy food items. 2. Lift up at back. 3. Pull shelf straight GLASS SHELVES ARE HEAVY. BE CAREFUL To replace out. glass shelves: 1. Guide the rear hooks into the slots in the shelf supports. 2. Tilt up front of shelf until hooks drop into slot. Lower front of shelf to level position.

If ice is not being made fast enough and more ice is needed, turn the Refrigerator Control toward a higher number. Wait a day and, if necessary, turn the Freezer Control toward C. If you remove the ice bin, raise the signal arm to shut off the ice maker. When you return the bin, push it all the way in and lower the arm to the ON position. If cubes are stored too long, they may develop an off-flavor...like stale water. Throw them away They will be replaced.
Energy saving tips... You can help your refrigerator use less electricity. l Check door gaskets for a tight seal. Level the cabinet to be sure of a good seal. l Clean the condenser coils regularly. l Open the door as few times as possible. Think about what you need before you open the door. Get everything ouf at one time. Keep foods organized so you won’t have to search for what you want. Close door as soon as food is removed.

Food storage guide There is a right way to package and store refrigerated or frozen food. To keep food fresher, longer, take the time to study these recommended steps. STORING FRESH FOOD Cured or Smoked Meat and Cold Cuts. Ham, bacon, sausage, cold cuts, etc., keep best in original wrappings. Once opened, tightly re-wrap in plastic wrap or aluminum foil. Canned Ham. Store in refrigerator unless the label says it’s okay to store on the shelf. Do not freeze. Fresh Poultry...Wrap in plastic wrap.
STORING FROZEN FOOD The freezer commercially home. section is designed for storage of frozen food and for freezing food at Packaging - The secret of successful freezing is in the packaging. The wrap you use must be air, moisture and vapor proof. The way you close and seal the package must not allow air, moisture or vapor in or out. Packaging done in any other way could cause food odor and taste transfer throughout the refrigerator and drying of frozen food.
Freezing Vegetables - Freeze only fresh highquality vegetables picked when barely mature. For best results, freeze no more than 2 to 3 hours after picking. Wash in cold water, sort and cut into appropriate sizes. Blanch or scald. Pack in recommended container and freeze. Do not freeze lettuce, celery, carrot sticks, potatoes or fresh tomatoes. All will become limp or mushy. Tomatoes will collapse when thawed.
IMPORTANT: Do not expect your freezer to quickfreeze any large quantity of food. Put no more unfrozen food Into the freezer than will freeze wfthln 24 hours. (No more than 2 to 3 pounds of food per Fublc foot of freezer space.] leave enough space for air to circulate around packages. Be careful to leave enough room at the front so the door can close tightly.
Vacation and Short vacations... Moving... No need to shut off the refrigerator if you will be away for less than four weeks. Use up perishables; freeze other items. If your refrigerator is equipped with an automatic ice maker: 1. Turn it off. 2. Shut off the water supply to the ice maker. 3. Empty the ice bin. If your refrigerator is equipped with an automatic ice maker, shut off the ice maker water supply a day ahead of time. Disconnect the water line.
