Known Product Limitations
Using HDMI/DisplayPort Audio with Displays that have a High
Native Resolution
TouseHDMI/DisplayPortaudiowithsomedisplaysthathaveanativeresolutionhigherthan
1920x1080,youmustsetthedisplaytoalowerHDresolution.
SomeHDMITVʹshaveanativeresolutionthatexceedsthemaximumsupportedHD
mode.Forexample,TVswithanativeresolutionof1920x1200exceedthe
maximum
supportedHDmodeof1920x1080.
Applyingthisnativemoderesultsindisplayoverscanwhichcannotberesizedusingthe
NVIDIAControlPanelsincethemodeisnotanHDmode.
Toavoidthissituationandprovideabetteruserexperience,thedrivertreatscertainTVs–
suchastheViewsonicVX2835wmand
theWestinghouseLVM‐37w3–asaDVImonitor
whenapplyingthenativemode.BecausethedriverdoesnottreattheTVasanHDMIin
thiscase,theHDMIaudioisnotused.
Using HDMI/DisplayPort Displays that do not Support Audio
SomeHDMI/DisplayPortdisplaysdonotsupportaudio,orhaveissueswithcurrentNVIDIA
graphicscards.
TheNVIDIAdriverattemptstoidentifysuchdisplaysandautomaticallydisablesthe
audio.Forexample,theNVIDIAdriverdisablesHMDIaudioforallPhilipsHDMITVs,
asthesehavebeenidentifiedashavingissueswithcurrent
NVIDIAgraphicscards.
Theremaybecaseswhereeitherthedriverdisablesaudioeventhoughthereisno
problem,ordoesnotdisabletheaudiowheninfacttheaudiodoesnotwork.The
followingsectionsdescribethesesituationsandprovidesguidanceforhandlingthem.
Corrupted video and no audio
Thedriverhasnotdisabledaudioandthedisplay’saudiosignalisincompatiblewiththe
graphicscard,causingvideocorruption.
Withadifferentdisplayconnectedinordertoestablishvideo,disableaudioforthe
HDMIdisplayusingtheNVIDIAControlPanel>ChangeResolutionpage.Fromthe
connectorlist,selectHDMI
HDTV(AudioDisabled).
