Using HDMI/DisplayPort Displays that do not Support
Audio
SomeHDMI/DisplayPortdisplaysdonotsupportaudio,orhaveissueswithcurrent
NVIDIAgraphicscards.
TheNVIDIAdriverattemptstoidentifysuchdisplaysandautomaticallydisablesthe
audio.Forexample,theNVIDIAdriverdisablesHMDIaudioforallPhilipsHDMI
TVs,asthesehavebeenidentifiedashavingissueswithcurrent
NVIDIAgraphics
cards.
Theremaybecaseswhereeitherthedriverdisablesaudioeventhoughthereisno
problem,ordoesnotdisabletheaudiowheninfacttheaudiodoesnotwork.The
followingsectionsdescribethesesituationsandprovidesguidanceforhandlingthem.
Corrupted video and no audio
Thedriverhasnotdisabledaudioandthedisplay’saudiosignalisincompatiblewith
thegraphicscard,causingvideocorruption.
Withadifferentdisplayconnectedinordertoestablishvideo,disableaudioforthe
HDMIdisplayusingtheNVIDIAControlPanel‐>ChangeResolutionpage.Fromthe
connectorlist,selectHDMI
‐HDTV(AudioDisabled).
Video but no audio
ChecktheconnectorlistontheNVIDIAControlPanel‐>ChangeResolutionpage.
•IfHDMI‐HDTV(AudioDisabled )isselectedandyouwanttotestwhetheryour
HDMIaudiodoes,infact,work,thenselectHDMI‐HDTV(AudioEnabled)and
thedriverwillpromptyouwithinstructionsfortestingHDMIaudiowiththe
display.
•IfHDMI‐HDTV(AudioEnabled)isselected,thenthedriver
hasnotsuccessfully
detectedthatanincompatibledisplayisconnected.
Futuredriveversionswillproperlyidentifysuchdisplaysanddisableaudio.
•IfthereisnoHDMIconnectoroptionintheNVIDIAControlPanel‐>Change
Resolutionpage,thedisplaydoesnotsupportaudioandhasproperlyreportedthis
totheNVIDIAdriver.
