Using HDMI/DisplayPort Displays that do not Support
Audio
SomeHDMI/DisplayPortdisplaysdonotsupportaudio,orhaveissueswithcurrent
NVIDIAgraphicscards.
TheNVIDIAdriverattemptstoidentifysuchdisplaysandautomaticallydisablesthe
audio.Forexample,theNVIDIAdriverdisablesHMDIaudioforallPhilipsHDMI
TVs,asthesehavebeenidentifiedashavingissueswithcurrent
NVIDIAgraphics
cards.
Theremaybecaseswhereeitherthedriverdisablesaudioeventhoughthereisno
problem,ordoesnotdisabletheaudiowheninfacttheaudiodoesnotwork.The
followingsectionsdescribethesesituationsandprovidesguidanceforhandlingthem.
Corrupted video and no audio
Thedriverhasnotdisabledaudioandthedisplay’saudiosignalisincompatiblewith
thegraphicscard,causingvideocorruption.
Withadifferentdisplayconnectedinordertoestablishvideo,disableaudioforthe
HDMIdisplayusingtheNVIDIAControlPanel>ChangeResolutionpage.Fromthe
connectorlist,selectHDMI
HDTV(AudioDisabled).
Video but no audio
ChecktheconnectorlistontheNVIDIAControlPanel>ChangeResolutionpage.
•IfHDMIHDTV(AudioDisabled )isselectedandyouwanttotestwhetheryour
HDMIaudiodoes,infact,work,thenselectHDMIHDTV(AudioEnabled)and
thedriverwillpromptyouwithinstructionsfortestingHDMIaudiowiththe
display.
•IfHDMIHDTV(AudioEnabled)isselected,thenthedriver
hasnotsuccessfully
detectedthatanincompatibledisplayisconnected.
Futuredriveversionswillproperlyidentifysuchdisplaysanddisableaudio.
•IfthereisnoHDMIconnectoroptionintheNVIDIAControlPanel>Change
Resolutionpage,thedisplaydoesnotsupportaudioandhasproperlyreportedthis
totheNVIDIAdriver.
