TrunkRing
TrunkRingisanewfeatureinMSRwhichmergesthetwotechnologiesofRSRandlink
aggregation.Ittakesadvantagesofaggregationtoenhancethelinkredundancy,whileincrease
thelinkspeed.Theringwillopenonlyifalltheaggregatedlinksarebroken.Linkag gregation
canbeachievedbyeither,statictrunkorLACP.NotallthelinksectionsinaTrunkRingneedto
bethesame.Ringlinkscanbeeithersymmetricorasymmetric.Someareasinglepath,andthe
othersareaggregatedbylinkswherethenumberoflinksinatrunkgroupcanbedifferent.
Userscanenhancethelinkredundancyatdifferentlocationsinaccordancetotheneed.And
thelinkwithlessspeedismorelikelytobeusedasthebackuppathforrestoringthe network
tofullplaycapacity.

LinkAggregationControlProtocol
LinkAggregationControlProtocolallowsyougroupingmultipleEthernetportsinparallelto
increasethelinkbandwidth.Theaggregatedportscanbeviewedasonephysicalport,sothat
thebandwidthishigherthanjustonesingleEthernetport.Thememberportsofthesame
trunkgroupcanbalancetheloadingandbackupwitheachother.TheLACPfeatureisusually
usedwhenyouneedhigherbandwidthforthebackbonenetwork.Thisisacost‐effectiveway
foryoutotransfermuchmoredata.

