OIL
SEAL
1.
Inspecting timing
gear
cover oil seal. Check the timing
gear cover and the lip
of
the oil seal for any damage.
If
necessary, replace the cover or oil seal.
2.
Oil seal replacement. To remove the oil seal, use the oil
seal puller and installer and pull out the oil seal.
To
install, apply engine oil on the outside
of
a new oil seal,
then press
fit
the oil seal with oil seal puller and installer
until the installer comes in contact with the cover.

1.
Inspecting oil seal. Check the oil seal lip for wear,
fraying or other damage and,
if
necessary, replace
it.
2.
Oil seal replacement.
a. Strike out the old rear oil seal with a suitable mandrel.
b. Apply engine oil onto the outside
of
a new seal and
press
fit
the seal in the rear oil seal cap equally.
NOTE:
In case the crankshaft is worn, the oil seal must be
fitted on the oil seal cap with its fitting position moved by
approximately O.1I81in (3mm) so that the seal does not
touch the worn down portion
of
the crankshaft.

1.
Scrape and clean any dirt or metal particles from the
inside of the oil pan.
2. Check the oil pan for cracks and damaged drain
plug threads
3. Inspect for damage
(uneven
surface) at the bolt holes
caused by the over torquing
of
the bolts. surfaces as
required. Repair or replace the oil pan.
