DC ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Engine 12-Volt DC Control Circuit
The Westerbeke 7.6 KW BID generator has a 12-volt DC electrical control circuit, as shown on wiring
diagram #039284. Refer to this diagram when troubleshooting or servicing electrical components
on the
engine.
II CAUTION n
To avoid damage to the battery charging circuit, never shut off the engine battery switch
while the engine is running.
Shut off the engine battery switch, however, to avoid electrical shorts when working on
the engine's electrical circuit.
Battery Specification
The miuimum recommended capacity
of the battery used in the engine's 12-volt DC control circuit is 350-
- 400 cold cranking amps.
Fuel
Pump
The engine mounted fuel pump requires little or no maintenance. Ensure fuel being supplied to this pump
is free
of water or other types of contaminants that will hinder the pump's operation.
Periodically check the fuel connections to and out
of the pump and make sure that no leakage is present
and that the fittings are tight and secure. The DC ground connection at one
of the pumps mounting bolts
should be clean
and well secured by the mounting bolt to ensure proper pump operation.
II WARNING II
Fuel leakage at the fuel pump or its
.connections is a fire hazard
and should
be corrected. Make sure proper
ventilation exists whenever servicing
fuel system components.
