Fault Cause Remedy
Mains supply voltage is ON, power
indicator is illuminated however unit
will not commence welding when the
torch trigger switch is depressed.
Power source is not in the correct
mode of operation.
Set the power source to the correct
mode of operation with the process
selection switch.
Faulty torch trigger. Repair or replace torch trigger
switch/lead.
Mains supply voltage is ON. Indicator
light is not lit and welding arc cannot
be established.
Primary control fuse is blown. Replace primary control fuse.
Broken connection in primary circuit. Have an Accredited Service Provider
check primary circuit.
Fault Indicator is illuminated and unit
will not commence welding when the
torch trigger switch is depressed.
Duty cycle of power source has been
exceeded.
Leave the power source switched ON
and allow it to cool. Note that fault
indicator must be extinguished prior
to commencement of welding.
Welding output continues when torch
trigger released.
Trigger mode selection is in 4T
(LATCH) mode.
Change to 2T (NORMAL) mode.
Torch trigger leads shorted. Repair or replace Torch / trigger lead.
Welding output voltage is present
when the torch trigger switch
is depressed but arc cannot be
established.
Poor or no work lead contact. Clean work clamp area and ensure
good electrical contact.
Welding output voltage is not present
when torch trigger depressed.
Faulty trigger switch / lead. Repair or replace Torch / trigger lead.
TIG electrode melts when arc is
struck.
TIG torch is connected to the (+) VE
terminal.
Connect the TIG torch to the (-) VE
terminal.
Arc flutters during TIG welding. Tungsten electrode is too large for the
welding current.
Select the correct size of tungsten
electrode.
Fault Remedy
Power indicator does not light, fan
does not turn, no welding output.
1. Make sure the power switch is turned on.
2. Confirm that the power input cable are connected with electricity.
Fan switch, or not subject to potential
instability in the welding current
control, current, big, sometimes small.
1. The current potential is damaged, should be replaced.
2. Bad connections, such as plug-in to be checked.
Power indicator does light, the fan
rotating is normal, but no welding
output.
1. Check all connectors inside the machine if there is bad contact.
2. Check if a circuit output connection is bad.
3. Check if the alarm indicator is lighting:
(1) The duty cycle of the power source has been exceeded. Once the power
source cools down this light will go OFF and the temperature condition will
automatically reset. Note that the mains power switch should remain in the
ON position such that the fan continues to operate thus allowing the unit
to cool sufficiently. Dot not switch the unit OFF should a thermal overload
condition be present;
(2) Check that the thermal protection is damaged and replace it if
necessary.
Hot welding clamp. Welding clamp rated current is too small, the replacement of larger size
welding clamp.
Manual welding big splash. Output polarity is unreasonable, reversed output connector.
