Prepare boiler location - vent system
Failure to follow all instructions can result

When removing
boiler
from
an
existing common
vent
system:
At the
time
of
removal
of
an existing boiler, the following
steps shall
be followed with each appliance remaining con-
nected to the common venting system placed in operation,
while
the
other
appliances remaining connected to
the
comm
on
ve
ntin
g
syste
m
are
not
in
operatio
n.
a.
Seal
any
unused
openings
in
the
co
mm
on
ve
nting
system.
b. VIsually
Inspect
the
venting
system
for proper size
and
horizontal pitch
and
determine there
is
no blockage
or restrictio
n,
leakage, co
rr
osion
or
other de
fi
ciencies
which cou
ld
cause
an
unsafe condition.

Test
vent
system
- Insofar
as
is

windows

all
doors
between

h the appliances remaining connected

spaces

Turn
on
clothes dryers
and
any
appl

nting system.
Turn
on any exhau
st
funs,
such
as
range hoods
and
bathroom exhausts, so they will operate at maxi
mum
speed.
Do
not operate a stmmt
er
exhaust
fun.
Close

dampers.

retention

moisture and

4. Cold masonry c
himn
eys, also known as outside
chimneys, typically have one
or
more walls ex-
posed to outside air. When any atmospheric gas-
fired boiler with automatic vent damp
er
is vented
t
hrough
this
type
of
chimney, the potential
exists
fo
r condensation to occur. Condensation
can damage a masonry chim
ney.
