WARNING:
When using electr i c gardeni ng appli ances, basic safet y pr ecautions should al ways be
followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and serious injury. The warnings and
safety instructions in this manual must be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric
shock, or injury , and to provide reasonable safety and efficiency in using this unit. The
operator is responsibl e for f oll owi ng the warnings and instr uct i ons in this manual and on
the unit. Read the ent i re instr ucti on manual before assembling and using t he unit! Re-
str ict the use of thi s unit to persons who read, understand, and foll ow t he warnings and
instructions in this manual and on the unit. Never allow children to use this unit. Do not
allow the unit to be used as a toy. Close attention is necessary when used near chil dr en.
Always disconnect unit from power source before servicing, cleaning, perfor ming main-
tenance, or storing. Nonconforming r eplacement components or the r emoval of saf ety
devices may cause damage to the unit and possibl e injury to the operator or bystanders.
Use only accessories and replacement parts as r ecommended. Use only for jobs ex-
plained i n t hi s manual.
OPERATOR SAFETY
S Always wear safet y glasses or simi l ar

ing, or perform i ng maintenance on your
uni t. We aring eye protecti on can help to
prevent r ocks or debris from being
blown or ricocheting into eyes and face
which can result in blindness or serious
injury.
S Always wear a respir at or or face mask
when working with the unit in dusty envi-
ronments.
S Dress saf ely in long pants . Do not go
barefoot or wear short pant s or sandals.
S Do not operat e t he unit when you are
tired, ill, upset, or if you are under the in-
fl uence of alcohol, drugs, or medication.
S Secure hair so it is above shoulder
length. Keep loose hair, loose clothi ng,
fi ngers, and all other parts of the body
away from openin gs and movi ng part s.
Hair, jewelr y, loose clothi ng, or clot hi ng
wit h loosely hanging st r aps, t ies, tas-
sels, etc., can be caught in movin g
parts.
ELECTRICAL SAF E TY
WARNING:
Avoi d a dangerous environment. To re-
duce the ri sk of ele ct rical shock, do not
use in r ain, in damp or wet locations, or
arou nd swimming pool s, hot tubs, etc. Do
not expose to snow, rain, or water to avoid
the possibility of electrical shock. Do not
use on wet surf aces. Do not handle exten-
sion cord plug or unit with wet hands.
Avoi d dangerous situati ons. Do not use in
the presence of f l ammable liqui ds or
gases to avoid creati ng a fire or explosion
and/or causing damage to uni t. Do not
abuse cord. Never carry the unit by the ex-
tension cord or yank extension cord to dis-
connect unit. To unplug, grasp the plug,
not the cord. Do not use cord as a handle,
close a door on cord, or pull cord around
sharp edges or corner s. Turn of f all con-
tr ol s bef or e unpluggi ng. Do not expose
cords to heat, oil, or water. Do not use with
damaged cord or pl ug. If unit is not work-
ing as it should, has been dr opped, dam-
aged, left outdoors, or dropped into water,
return it to your authorized service dealer
for repair. Unplug the unit from t he power
source when not in use, before servi cing,
cleaning, perfor mi ng mai nt enance, or
stor ing. Do not put any object into open-
ings. Do not use with any opening
blo cked ; keep free of dust, l int, hair and
anything t hat may reduce air f low.
S Use only a volt age supply as shown on
the nameplate of the unit .
S Avoid dangerous envir onments. Do not
use in unventilat ed are as or where dust
or explosive vapors can buil d up.
S To reduce the risk of electrical shock,
this unit has a polarized plug (one
blade is wider than the other) and will
require the use of a polarized exten-
sion cord. The appliance plug will fit
into a polarized extension cord only
one way. If the plug does not fit fully
into the extension c ord, reverse the
plug. If the plug still does not fit, obtain
a correct polarized extension cord. A
