InstallationoftheMast
IMPORTANT: Ensurethatallmountingequipmentandmastcomponentsmeetthe
localbuildingcodes.Theinstallerisresponsibleforchoosingthebest
mountingforthelocation.EarthNetworksrequiresthewindsensor
tobe10feetabovetherooflineandthesensorsheltertobe8feet
abovetheroofline,andbothfreeofhorizontalobstructionstoensure
accuratedatacollection.
Themountsmustwithstandharshenvironments,includinghighwinds.When
determiningtheappropriatemountingforyourinstallation,considerthefollowing:
Buildingmaterialtowhichyouwillbemountingthemast(brick,block,siding,
etc.)
Roofoverhang(unistrut/steelchannelormountingbracketsmustbeplaced
sothatthemastclearstheroof)
Securethebracketstothebuildingorsecurethenon‐penetratingroofmountonthe
roof.Installthebottommountinginverticalalignmentwiththetopmount.Themast
mustbecompletelyvertical,useleveltoensurealignment.
SecuringtheSensorstotheMast
Followthesestepstosecurethesensorstothemastsothatthesensorsareoriented
properlyandsothattheymeettheminimumheightrequirementabovetheroof
surface.
1. Ifyourmastisinmorethanonesection,mountthesensorsonthetop
section.Thesectionscanbejoinedaftersecuringthesensorsandmakingthe
appropriateconnections.
2. MounttheRainGaugebyslidingitsU‐boltdownthemastuntilitislow
enoughtobeeasilyaccessibleforperiodiccleanings.Finger‐tightentheU‐bolt
butleaveitscableloosefornow.
3. Mount
theSensorShelterbyslidingitsU‐boltdownthemastuntilitistwo
feetbelowthetop.Itshouldbe180
