Make sure all 4 transit safety devices are removed.

1. Keyboard steel protection rod. This wire holds the keys down and keeps the keys from reaching the

paper. This will either give a half imprint on the paper or keep you from being able to set the shift lock.

2. Both 2 & 3 will keep the carriage from moving, keys will type in the same spot.

3. Carriage return lever plastic stopper. This will not allow the lever to move the roller or the carriage.

Line Spacing or Roller not advancing paper.

1. First thing you want to make sure of, is that the Line Spacer Selector (6) is on a number and not on the R. If

line spacer is on 1, -, or 2, and the paper is still not advancing, move on to 2.

2. Try advancing the roller by turning the left knob only. If nothing happens, this knob needs to be tightened.

a. Make sure the Line Spacer Selector is on R.

b. Grab hold of both the left and the right knobs. You will turn the left knob down, and the right knob

up at the same time.

c. Try the left knob again to see if the roller will now advance.

Imprint not dark enough 1. The guide post (28 & 30) hold the ribbon in the correct position but it also tells the ribbon which direction to go. Using only one of the post, move it from one side to the other and back. This should loosen the springs and allow the ribbon to move along, allowing the imprint to be darker.
