Chapter 13: Impact
Impact is a high-quality TDM dynamics process-
ing plug-in.
The Impact plug-in provides critical control
over the dynamic range of audio signals, with
the look and sound of a mixing console’s stereo-
bus compressor.
Impact provides support for 192 kHz,
176.4 kHz, 96 kHz, 88.2 kHz, 48 kHz, and
44.1 kHz sessions.
Impact provides support for mono, stereo, and
all Pro Tools-supported multichannel audio for-
mats.
Impact Controls
Impact Ratio Control
Ratio sets the compression ratio. If the ratio is
set to 2:1 for example, it will compress changes
in signals above the threshold by one half. This
control provides four fixed compression ratios,
2:1, 4:1, 10:1, and 20:1. Selecting 2:1 applies very
light compression; selecting 20:1 applies heavy
compression, bordering on limiting.
