Railwayswitchpointheatingisinstalledinorderto

theneedformanualclearing.
Theinstallationinvolvespositioningflexibleheatingele‐
mentsalongthefootofthestockandswitchrails.Inex‐
tremecases,doubleelementswillbeinstalledinthe
sec
‐tionofthepointbladewiththemostmovement,in
ordertoquicklymeltanysnoworicefallingoffpassing
trainsasaresultofvibration.
Thepointrodpitmayalsobeprovidedwithheatingby
meansofourpointrodheaters,whichareconnectedup
toextension
terminalsontheheaterspositionedonthe
stock‐rail.
Theheatingelementsarefixedtotherailusing
stainless‐steelprotectivechannels.Thechannelsare
suppliedinlengthsofonemetreandareavailablein
rigidandflexibledesigns.
Heatersandchannelsarefixedtotherailbymeansof
special
clipsmadeofspringsteel.
Severaldifferenttypesofrailprofilesare
foundintheswitchpointsthatexisttoday,
andsoitisimportanttostatethecorrecttype
ofrailinordertogettheappropriatetypeof
clip.
Control system
TheVELOXswitchpointheatingsystemcanbeusedwith
themostexistingcontrolsystems,providedtheysupply
230Vonthefeedercabletothepointheating.
Thisisbecausetheheaterslimittheirpoweroutputin
relationtothetemperatureoftherail.
Asaresultofitsdesign,theheating
elementproducesa
relativelystrongstartingcurrent,butthiscanbe
preventedthroughtheuseofsoft‐startregulators.
VELOXRAILPOINTREGULATOR
Wemanufacturecustomdesignedautomatic‐control
cabi‐netscontainingthyristorcontroldevicesandsoft‐
startregulators,aswellasequipmentforremote
controlandloggingofenergyconsumption
and
temperature,amongotherdata.
Theparametersoftheregulatorcanbecheckedandad‐
justedfromaremote‐connectedcomputer,andlogged
temperatureandcurrentvaluesmay,inthesameway,
becollectedandanalysedfurther.Communicationisby
afixedtelephoneconnectionorviaamodeminthe
auto
‐matic‐controlcabinetoveramobilelink.
Itisimportanttoindicateaccesstoa
telecommunicationconnectionandtostatethetypeof
feedingavailable(230/400or115/230)andiffouror
fiveconductorsystem.
