5.23 Quality of Service (QoS) Configuration
The switch supports the following five types of QoS:
MAC Priority – MAC priority ports act by using the destination address of MAC in packets.
802.1p Priority – VLAN tagged priority fields are affected by the 802.1p priority setting.
IP TOS Priority – IP TOS priority affects the TOS fields of the IP header. It uses an 8-bit
service type field that specifies how the datagram should be handled. The field can be
divided into six subfields as follows:
o PRECEDENCE (3 bits)
o D-Type (Delay priority, 1 bit)
o T-Type (Throughput priority, 1 bit)
o R-type (Reliability Priority, 1 bit)
o M-Type (Monetary Cost Priority, 1bit)
o UNUSED (1bit)
DiffServ DSCP Priority – Acts on the DSCP field of the IP Header. The differentiated
services interpretation says the first six bits comprise a codepoint, which is sometimes
abbreviated DSCP and the last two bits are left unused.
Port Based Priority “VIP Port” - All packets set as VIP Ports will have the highest
transmitting priority.
