Softeners, but with manganese greensand in place of the super fine mesh media.
The iron filter uses a potassium permanganate (KMnO
4
) solution for regeneration instead of salt regenerant. In service, the filter media aids in oxidizing
the iron, manganese, and/or hydrogen sulfide to solid particles, trapping the particles in the filter bed.
