LAN (local area network)
A computer network that spans a relatively small area generally
confined to a single building or group of buildings.
LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol)
A protocol that supports access and search operations on
directories containing information such as names, phone
numbers, and addresses across otherwise incompatible systems
over the Internet.
LED (light-emitting diode)
A small indicator light on a networking device that provides
indication of status and other information about the device.

Linux
An open source version of the UNIX operating system.
LiveSecurity Service
See WatchGuard LiveSecurity Service.
LogViewer
A WatchGuard Firebox System application that displays a static
view of a log file.
loopback interface
A pseudo interface that allows a host to use IP to talk to its own
services. A host is generally configured to trust packets coming
from addresses assigned to this interface. The Class A address
group 127.0.0.0 has been reserved for these interfaces.
mail server
Refers to both the application and the physical machine tasked
with routing incoming and outgoing electronic mail.
Management Station
The computer on which the WatchGuard Firebox System Control
Center and Policy Manager runs; sometimes referred to as the
administration host.
