Preparation for Installation 1.

A thermostat, a voltage adjuster or a switch may control the system. The selected device must have the appropriate voltage, current and agency approvals for the location in which it is being installed. • A thermostat with a floor temperature sensor is recommended since this will control the FLOOR temperature at a comfortable level, such as EasyHeat’s FGS Programmable Controller or FG Non-Programmable Controller.
2. Plan Tiling Method Do not install mat at this time.
MATS: Figures 1 & 2 Once the mats have been fitted to the area in which they are being installed, they can be affixed to the floor with the adhesive side of the mesh. The mats are then covered with a uniform scratch coat so that it just covers the heating cables. For ease of tiling, the scratch coat is applied evenly over the entire floor area. When the scratch coat is dry, the tiles can be set in the usual manner.
flip & turn Back To Back: Make a single, straight cut through the entire width of the mesh. Slide the mat around and head the mat back in the opposite direction, keeping the heating cable on top of the mesh, the adhesive side will be on the substrate.
For new construction it is recommended that rough-in be completed before drywalling begins. • Determine the appropriate location and height for the Electrical Connection Box* (ECB). Consider proximity to other outlet boxes, ease of routing Cold Lead to the Heated Area, and accessibility of the heating controller during normal use. Typically the cold lead enters the same wall cavity in which the ECB is located. * Typically requires a 15 cubic inch box for single cable installations. 3.

Clear fish holes of wood chips and install cable guards (drywall ledge at top, facing out) over the holes (Figure 3g).
• Install Power Supply Wiring in the ECB, but do NOT energize or connect to the heating controller. Install conduit, if required (consult with your local electrical inspection authority). Multiple cable sets may require larger boxes.

Consider the location of the ECB, and the routing of the cold lead over to the point where they will enter the wall cavity. NOTE: The mat tape bands are on top and bottom of the mat and the mat mesh is laid directly on the floor with the adhesive side down. 2.

i n s ta l l at i o n d u t r e i l l i s / e. If cold lead length is insufficient to reach ECB, the mesh can be cut to enable heating cable to be routed along the edge of mat back to connection box. Heating cable should be spaced 3” from parallel runs of heating cable and 2” from perpendicular runs (loops) of the heating cable, as noted in Figure 4e. These spacings may be reduced to 11/2” MINIMUM if space is restricted.
Check the resistance of each mat and the sensor wire (Fig. 4f) before proceeding with floor finishing to ensure no damage has occurred during installation. The resistance of the wire should be greater than 8 ohms but less than 410 ohms. The resistance of the sensor wire should be between 7 and 14 Kohms. 2.

Screw or hot-melt glue mat tape bands and/or mesh directly to the floor as needed. DO NOT screw or hot-melt glue through the heating cable.
5. Installing Control/Power Connection Installation of all control / wiring devices must be according to manufacturer’s instructions. 5. 2.
o p e r at i n g t i p s / consejos prácticos de operación / c o n s e i l s d ’ u t i l s at i o n OPERATING TIPS • When first energized, the Warm Tiles system may take up to 3 hours to fully warm your floor, although the actual time may vary depending on the ambient conditions. • Energy consumption will vary depending on user preferences (warmer floors require more energy), but typically will be about 70% of installed capacity when the system is energized. For example, if about 200 Watts (0.
TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS If the overall floor surface feels unusually hot when the system is energized, or if the circuit breaker trips when the system is energized, the cable may be damaged. De-energize the system immediately and contact EasyHeat at 800/537-4732 for assistance. Note: In the event that the heating cable has been damaged, the fault can typically be located and field repaired with minimal flooring removal.
limited warranty and liability / garantía y responsabilidad limitada /garantie et responsabilité limitées LIMITED WARRANTY AND LIABILITY EasyHeat® warrants to the original purchaser only, that if there are any defects in material or workmanship in any Warm Tiles mat or cable during the first fifteen years after the date of its purchase, we will refund the purchase price paid for the mat or cable, not including any labor or other installation costs.
Product Selection Charts for Mat Kits Select Floor Warming kit voltage, 120V or 240V, to match your power supply. For areas larger than about 70 ft2, the 240V kits may be more economical. All mats are 20” wide. Multiple Mats may be used to increase heated area ft2 of installation. All measurements are per kit.
How do I know how much floor warming to buy? There is no need to install floor warming systems under base cabinets or plumbing fixtures, within 2”– 8” (5.08–20.32 cm) of baseboards and 6” (15.24 cm) from the toilet flange. • Accurately measure the length and width of the walkable heated areas of your room in sections, as shown on the Warm Tiles® room measurement diagrams. • Add the walkable heated areas together to determine the total square footage of floor warming that will be needed.
