Attribute applicability can be defined by key entity and sub reference to allow the attribute
information collected to be focussed at the user's business requirements.
Attributes can either be numeric (input or calculated), free text or limited to a user-defined list of
values.
Formulae can be defined which allow the calculated attributes to be automatically maintained e.g.
volume = length * width * thickness
in this case the user can enter length, width and thickness and the system will calculate the volume
automatically. Default values for attributes can be defined for each entity but the user can override
these for each lot where necessary.
Powerful search facilities enable the user to find the key items which match the criteria entered.
Attribute processing also allows the user to define a unit of measure conversion based on a
calculation instead of a defined conversion factor. This means that each individual lot can have its
own unit of measure conversion factor. Optionally, adjustment of attribute values can record a stock
adjustment automatically.
Optionally the attribute value can be linked to a stock movement which means that the issue and
receipt of stock can automatically update attribute values provided that a conversion exists between
the stock unit of measure and the attribute unit of measure.
For example, if an item number was a steel slab then its default length, width, thickness, density and
weight could be defined at the item level. When a batch of slabs was received into stock, the
number of slabs could be defined along with their average dimensions, defaulting key values from
the item number. One lot may have an average weight of 1.1 tonnes and the next lot could have an
average weight of 1.05 tonnes. When the slabs are issued to production the operator only knows
how many slabs he issued from which lot. The system can work out for each lot what weight of
material was actually issued based on the average values, and can update the attributes on the lot to
reduce the number in the lot. Stocks can be viewed in multiple units of measure taking account of
lot-specific conversions to ensure that sensible results are shown. As specific conversions are being
used, the system will not display that there are 1.98 slabs left but will automatically calculate that
there are 2 slabs left.
The next phase of attribute processing will introduce the automatic adjustment of sales orders, sales
order lines and production processes based on the attributes selected and will allow stock allocation
by attributes.
Manual Set-Up Procedures
The ATMG (Attributes Management) transactions control the entities against which attributes are
used.
4.2.1.2 TROPOS 'Active' Business Process Automation (SR3997)
TROPOS Active enables users to automate their key business processes based on user-defined rules
to ensure that the right information is communicated to the right people at the right time, speeding
up supply chain velocity and reducing administrative overheads.
It provides facilities to:
