4. New Features
4.1 Introduction to New Features
This chapter identifies the significant new features that have been introduced into TROPOS at this
release. All new TROPOS enhancements developed since the initial release of TROPOS 2.3.0 are
included. Note: some enhancements may have already been shipped to you on a 2.3.0 platform.
Full details of these features are given in the following sections.
4.2 Business Functionality
4.2.1 Cross-Module Enhancements (GENL)
4.2.1.1 Attributes Phase 1 (SR4074)
Attribute processing allows the definition of user defined attributes against key entities within the
TROPOS system. Unlike the extra data facilities, the attribute definition can have processing
significance within the standard TROPOS product.
The use of attributes is intended to reduce the need to hold multiple item numbers and process
definitions for similar products where the dimensions and other characteristics can vary for the
same key item. It also provides active user-defined fields which can influence the sales,
manufacturing and purchasing business processes.
Attributes can be defined against the following entities:
Customers
Customer Products
Sales Orders
Sales Order Lines
Product Groups
Item Numbers
Processes
Process Stages
Lot Numbers
Production Orders
Production Order Stages
Purchase Orders
Purchase Order Lines
