4.5 Maintenance before Storing
Obey all laws and regulations relating to the storage of firearms. You must familiarize yourself
with all local, state, and federal laws regarding the safe storage of firearms and ammunition.
When storing the pistol, do not encase the firearm in anything that will attract or hold mois-
ture, such as leather or heavy cloth. If the firearm is to be stored for an extended period,
the bore, chamber and internal working mechanism should be lubricated with a high qual-
ity lubricant or preservative intended for firearms. The external working mechanisms, slide,
barrel, and magazine should be coated with anti-corrosion lubrication.
Before using the pistol again, be sure to clean it. Every time you clean the firearm, check it
for signs of wear. If wear is noted, do not use the firearm. Return it to WALTHER for service
or have it checked by a qualified gunsmith.
