Instructions / Assembly
English – UltraWood
Before you begin
READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY AND IN FULL BEFORE
USING THE PRODUCT.
Please ensure that these instructions only contain
general information and recommendations for use
by REBEL OF STYLES (subsequently: ROS). These in-
structions are purely informative. In case of doubt,
you must seek independent advice from authorised
personnel (on site) regarding the use, application and
installation of this product. Check the local building
regulations to ensure that the use of this product
meets the requirements for proper construction.
• ROS UltraWood may only be used as a decorative wall panel-
ling in indoor areas.
• Before installation, ROS UltraWood must be removed from the
packaging for acclimatisation and stored for 48 hours in the
environment and temperature in which it is to be handled.
• Avoid any kind of surface contamination when handling, as this
is often dicult to remove in wooden products.
• We recommend using this product: adhesive = Loctite Power
Grab Ultimate Construction Adhesive or Equal.
• Use correct (and clean) tools when handling. We recommend
using a spirit level, a ne-toothed handsaw, a square, a folding
ruler, a pencil and a skeleton gun.
• Ensure cleanliness when handling ROS UltraWood. If adhesive
falls onto
UltraWood products, it must be removed immediately and
carefully using a damp cloth and clear water.
• UltraWood products can withstand temperatures between
minimum +5°C (+41° F) and maximum +60°C (+140° F).
• Apply the product at temperatures between +15°C (+59° F)
and +35°C (+95° F).
Substrate
• Ensure that the substrate is solid, at, viable, stressless, clean,
dry and free of dust, grease, oil, dirt or separating layers (such
as wallpaper or paint). Carry out all necessary preparations to
the wall’s surface, such as cleaning, repairing damage to the
surface, removing loose layers (e.g. wallpaper) and paint/coat
-
ings, repairing, evening out and priming plaster.
• The substrate must be at and straight and must not have any
bumps greater than 2 mm.
• Warning! Walls freshly plastered with gypsum must be sanded
down and dusted before being worked on. Priming is required
for this type of application.
• The assessment regarding the condition and suitability of the
substrate must take place on site and is your responsibility. In
case of doubt, seek specialist advice. We recommend a black
substrate/background for having an optimal result.
Installing the products
• We recommend using Loctite Power Grab Ultimate Construc-
tion Adhesive or Equal, suitable for gluing wood to the sub-
strate in question. Seek an on-site specialist/retailer for advice
on this.
• Before installing the products, check with a spirit level whether
the site at which you intend to use the products is straight.
To do this, apply a vertical stop to the wall, possibly using a
wooden slat or a metal prole.
• ! UltraWood products are installed from the bottom up!
• Always check the products thoroughly before handling them.
Always lay out a few panels (e.g. 3–5m2) ready near the work
area. This helps when calculating the right distribution and
ensures faster assembly. Always mix products from several
boxes to achieve a regular pattern of colours, sizes, structures
and shapes. You can easily correct sizes using a plane or a ne-
toothed (hand)saw.
• Apply the adhesive lengthways to the back of the individual
wooden elements in even strips up to max. 15 mm from the edge.
• Install the product in the right position.
• Do not use an excessive quantity of adhesive. Excess glue can
only be removed with diculty.
• Press the UltraWood product rmly so that there is good adhe
-
sion to the substrate.
• Small adjustments are still possible at this point.
• Trimming the products: To ensure the ROS UltraWood ele
-
ments line up well next to each other, you can trim/shorten
them using a ne-toothed saw. To ensure that shortened edges
are not visible, rotate them (downwards when below eye
height; upwards when above eye height).
• Stresses on the undercoat of UltraWood products should be
avoided.
Maintenance & cleaning
• When cleaning, do not use acidic products, chemical deter-
gents or steel brushes as they may damage the surface.
• Use a clean, soft – and perhaps slightly damp – cloth for clean
-
ing.
General information
• ROS UltraWood must only be used inside in dry, well-ventilat-
ed areas. The products must not be used under water or come
into contact with water. Avoid walls subject to strong tempera
-
ture uctuations (e.g. due to direct sunlight or directly next to a
heat source). In case of doubt, seek specialist advice from your
supplier.
• Dimensions: All measurements are nominal values and are
subject to manufacturing tolerances. We are continually work
-
ing on renewing and improving our products. ROS therefore
reserves the right to change the design and specications
without prior notice.
• Colours: The UltraWood product is a natural product and may
exhibit colour variations and dierent shades by nature and
due to climate inuences. As a result, a uniform, even colour
cannot be guaranteed. These variations highlight the natural
appearance of ROS products and do not have any eect on the
technical suitability of the products. When using several boxes,
always select and mix products from several boxes to achieve a
regular pattern of colours, sizes, structures and shapes.
• Shrinkage: The UltraWood product may swell or shrink due to
natural environmental inuences (e.g. changes in temperature
and/or humidity). Bear this in mind if you wish to panel an
entire wall. For having an optimal result, we recommend paint
-
ing the wall black before installation.
• Surface: (Hairline) cracks, ssures in the surface or other small
imperfections may occur in the surface of UltraWood prod
-
ucts. The fact that these have no eect on the functionality
of the products and are not cause for complaint applies here,
too.
• Conditions: In the unlikely event that you are dissatised with
the condition in which you received the products, inform the
retailer of this immediately. Warning: If you install a product
on which defects were established beforehand, we shall not
be held liable for any costs resulting from the use of these
faulty products. Even though we will do our best to advise
you in the best way possible, ROS shall not be held liable for
loss, damage or injury arising from you following this advice.
We do not accept any responsibility in the event that the
products were used for any purpose other than its intended
purpose or if damage occurs due to non-compliance with our
advice.
Health & safety
Always rst read the instructions for use and the guidelines for
the product you are using. In case of doubt, always seek specialist
advice rst.
Sawing machines: Dust is generated when sawing wooden prod
-
ucts at high speed. Inhaling excessive quantities of dust over a
longer period of time may result in persistent health problems.
Therefore, wear good safety goggles and a dust mask.
