You are bleeding based on makeup If you are not bleeding based on conductivity,
volume, and have set it for too much but on makeup water volume, recheck your
time or volume. calculations on how much time, or how much
bleed volume needs to be done per makeup
water volume. Go to the Bleed Output Page to
make sure the correct values are entered. Also
go to the Water Meter Input Page to make sure
that the correct volume per contact, K factor,
or flow rate at 4 and 20 mA menus are
entered.
Submersion conductivity electrode is dry. Adjust sensor location below the minimum
water level.
No sample flow, and faulty flow switch. Clean flow switch as described in Section 7.1
above. Verify that the float travels up and
down with the presence and absence of flow.
Solenoid valve stuck open. Repair or replace solenoid valve.
Cycles High Alarm
This error message occurs if you are bleeding based on cycles of concentration and the ratio of
system conductivity to makeup conductivity is higher than the user-programmed high alarm limit.
Possible Causes Corrective Actions
Programmed value is too close to the Go to the Conductivity Input Page and make
sure set point. that the high alarm limit for the current
makeup source is set at least 5% above the set
point.
Y Strainer is plugged. Clean Y strainer.
Insufficient pressure differential. Ensure that the sample piping is tapped into
the discharge side of the circulation pump, and
flows to either atmospheric pressure (the
cooling tower sump) or the suction side of the
circulation pump.
Insufficient prebleed prior to biocide If the biocide addition and subsequent lockout
addition and bleed lockout. of the bleed will cause the cycles of
concentration to rise to the high alarm limit,
then the prebleed needs to be extended to drop
the system conductivity further before starting
the biocide addition. Go to the Biocide 1 or
Biocide 2 Output Page (whichever one has
caused the problem). If the prebleed is not
used, then click on the radio button to prebleed
either by time or by conductivity. If the
prebleed is already used, increase the amount
of time, or decrease the conductivity value.
