SAFETY AND WARNING INFORMATION FOR USING
SPRAYERS TO APPLY DISINFECTANTS
Warnings for Non-Alcohol based Disinfectants:
IMPORTANT: Follow the material manufactures safety recommendations for wearing proper
PPE and mixing instructions. Some disinfectants can cause damage or corrosion to surfaces,
follow manufactures recommendations for proper application.
WARNING: When using any materials that contain Bleach (Sodium Hypochlorite, Sodium
Chlorite), Hydrogen Peroxide, Quaternary Ammonia or Hypochlorous Acid, the unit should be
flushed immediately after each use. These materials are corrosive and should never be left in
the sprayers longer than 15 minutes after use. Check the filters in the gun and the sprayer daily
after each use and clean or replace as needed. If choosing an airless sprayer for disinfectants,
we recommend using HEA spray tips with the pump pressure set at 1000 PSI or less.
WARNING for Alcohol based Disinfectants
WARNING: For disinfectants that have a flash point lower than 100°F (38°C) only use
sprayers with the spray gun separated from the motor (turbine or pump). When spraying
keep the motor outside the room. Read the sprayers operators manual and follow its
warnings and instructions on keeping the pump away from the spraying operation.
PREVENTION:
• Do not spray flammable or combustible materials near an open flame, pilot lights or
sources of ignition such as hot objects, cigarettes, motors, electrical equipment and
electrical appliances. Avoid creating sparks from connecting and disconnecting power
cords.
• Use extreme caution when spraying any materials with a flash point lower than 100°F
(38°C). Check the technical specifications on the disinfectant or solution container
before spraying.
