5.4 Battery monitor
The unit is equipped with an intelligent battery monitor that
protects your vehicle battery and the internal battery against
excessive discharging.
If, during operation, the power supply falls below the values
specified above or the power fails completely, the battery monitor
switches off the cooling system.
The function of the battery monitor depends on the operating
mode selected.
Battery mode – operated on external power:
(battery switch – fig. 4 2, page 4 – switched to “BATTERY ON”,
see also chapter “Battery mode” on page 34)
When the cooler is switched on, the battery monitor checks every
30 minutes whether the power supply is sufficient:
z 12 V power source > 12.2 V
z 24 V power source > 25.4 V
I
Note
The test of the external power supply occurs every 30 minutes
and takes three minutes; during this time the display also remains
switched off. The test measures the no load voltage of the power
source (e.g. the vehicle battery).
a
Caution – risk of damage
When switched off by the battery monitor, the vehicle battery will
no longer be fully charged. Avoid starting repeatedly or operating
electric consumers without longer charging phases. Ensure that
the battery is recharged.
Battery mode – operated on the internal power source:
(Battery switch – fig. 4 2, page 4 – is set to “BATTERY ON”)
The supply voltage is sufficient for operating the cooling if the
internal battery has a charging voltage of > 10.5 V.
