PT2 / PT3 Operation
4.7 Starting and Stopping the Machine (WM 170 / WM 270)
Requirements ■ Suction and discharge hoses properly attached and positioned
■ There is fuel in the tank
Starting the
machine
Perform the procedure below to start the machine.
1. Set the fuel valve to the open position (a
1
).
Note: If the engine is cold, set the choke lever to the closed position (b
1
). If the
engine is hot, set the choke lever to the open position (b
2
).
2. Turn the engine start switch to the “ON” position (c
1
).
3. Move the throttle lever slightly to the left (d
2
), about 1/3 of the way toward the
high speed position (d
1
).
4. Pull the starter rope (e).
Note: If the oil level in the engine is low, the engine will not start. If this happens,
add oil to the engine.
5. Open the choke (b
1
) as the engine warms.
6. Set the throttle lever to the high speed position (d
1
) to operate the machine.
Stopping the
machine
Perform the procedure below to stop the machine.
1. Set the throttle lever to the slow/idle position (d
3
) to reduce engine RPM.
2. Turn engine start switch to the “OFF” position (c
2
).
3. Set the fuel valve to the closed position (a
2
).
