5.7 Spark Plug
When
Clean the spark plug every 100 hours of operation or every 6 months. Replace the
spark plug as needed.
Requirements
■ Machine shut down
■ Engine cool
Procedure
Perform the procedure below to clean the spark plug.
1. Stop the engine and allow it to cool.
2. Remove the spark plug.
3. Inspect the spark plug. Replace the spark plug if the insulator is cracked or
chipped, or if the electrode is damaged.
4. Clean the spark plug with a wire brush.
5. Set the electrode gap (a). See chapter Technical Data for the recommended
gap.
6. Re-install the spark plug and tighten it to the recommended torque from the
engine owner’s manual.
NOTICE: A loose spark plug can become very hot and may cause engine damage.
WARNING
Burn hazard. The engine and muffler become very hot while running.
► Allow the engine to cool before performing this procedure.
