Reset and Initialization
The RF-B! transmitter controller operation has three different types of resets. This section
explains the differences between the available reset types. Motorola encourages a thorough
understanding of each reset type to minimize the station down time when a reset is necessary.
The available reset types are:
Power-on reset
Hard reset
Software reset
Power-on Reset
The power-on reset is the most thorough reset available. This reset occurs when power to the
RF-B! transmitter controller is interrupted. A power-on reset returns the RF-B! transmitter
controller microprocessor, external interfaces, the Ultra-High Stability Oscillator (UHSO), and
GPS receiver to initial default conditions. Upon power-on reset, the following actions are
performed:
RF-B! transmitter controller control software boot
Network initialization
FIPS initialization
Complete GPS receiver and simulcast initialization
After the RF-B! transmitter controller software boot, network initialization, and FIPS
initialization are complete, the FIPS banner appears on the service terminal screen (if
connected).
