How to StartEngine
1. Attach the safety lanyard (D.E.S.S.
key) to your PFD.
WARNING
Before starting the engine, the op-
erator and passenger(s) should
always be properly seated on the
watercraft, have a firm grip on a
handhold or hold on to the waist
of the person in front of them, and
wear appropriate protective cloth-
ing including an approved PFD by
local authorities and a wet suit bot-
tom.
2. Firmly grip handlebar with your left
hand and place both feeton the foot-
boards.
3. Press the engine start/stop button
to wake up the electrical system.
4. As the information center cycles
through its self test function, install
the D.E.S.S. key on its post.
WARNING
The safety lanyard should always
be attached to the operators per-
sonal flotation device when start-
ing or operating the watercraft.
NOTE: Ifyouhearanythingotherthan
2 short beeps from the D.E.S.S. sys-
tem, it indicates a condition that should
be corrected. Refer to the
TROU-
BLESHOOTING
section for BEEP code
signal identification.
5. Depress and hold the start button to
crank the engine.
NOTICE
Ensure there is at least
90 cm (3 ft) of water under the l
ow-
est rear portion of the hull when all
passengers are aboard prior to start-
ing the engine. Otherwise
damage
totheimpellerorotherjetpump
components may occur. Do not ac-
celerate abruptly.
NOTE: Do not depress th
e throttle
lever to start a cold or warm engine.
