Telephone operation
Make, answer or end a softphone call
You can make and receive calls on line 1, line 2, or cell lines, or softphone VoIP
calls by using the AT&T Softphone Call Manager installed on your computer
(see page 11).
Before managing a softphone VoIP call, make sure Skype or Lync
is installed.
To make a Skype call:
Using a cordless handset or the telephone base:
Enter the telephone number in idle mode, and then press
PC CALL
to dial
a softphone call.
To answer an incoming Skype/Lync call:
Using a cordless handset:
Press /SPEAKER or
ANSWER
to answer an incoming softphone call.
Using the telephone base:
Press SPEAKER or lift the corded handset to answer an incoming
softphone call.
To hold a Skype/Lync call:
Using a cordless handset or the telephone base:
Press HOLD to hold the softphone line. The handset screen displays
PC CALL ON HOLD.
Press
PC CALL
to resume the call.
To end a Skype/Lync call:
Using a cordless handset:
Press OFF/CANCEL, or place the cordless handset into the charger.
Using the telephone base:
Press SPEAKER or return the corded handset to the telephone base.
NOTES:
Only Skype can make a softphone VoIP call.
Make sure the USB cable is connected to the telephone base and your computer.
Make sure the AT&T Softphone Call Manager is launched on your computer.
During a incoming call, the screens display Skype and Lync without any specfic details about
the name and number of the caller. If the caller ID announce (page 39) is turned on, the tel-
ephone will announce Call from Skype or Call from Lync.
If you do not want to answer the call, press REJECT .
Missed call from softphone is logged in the caller ID log of the telephone system. Skype or
Lync is stored as the name of the caller ID log entry.
When the ringer of PC line is off, the screens of cordless handsets and the telephone base
display

You can also make a Skype call or answer a Skype/Lync call using AT&T Softphone Call
Manager. Please refer to the Installation and Operation Guide in the CD-ROM which comes
with the package.
