Dear Parent, At VTech®, we know how important the first day of school is for your child. To help prepare preschoolers for this important event, VTech® has developed the Ready, Set, School ™ series of interactive toys. Ready, Set, School ™ features fun characters and inviting school themes that use technology to capture a child’s attention and teach important preschool skills like spelling, counting and the alphabet.
INTRODUCTION Thank you for purchasing the VTech® Fly & Discover Globe™ learning toy! MOVING AIRPLANE MAGNIFYING GLASS Introduction The VTech® Fly & Discover Globe™ learning toy is an interactive globe that allows your child to engage in role-play while learning through entertaining play. By following the pilot’s instructions, children will be exposed to simple geography, including continents, oceans, rivers, and mountains while learning about animals, their sounds and where they live.
INCLUDED IN THIS PACKAGE - One VTech® Fly & Discover Globe™ learning toy - One instruction manual WARNING: All packing materials such as tape, plastic sheets, wire ties and tags are not part of this toy, and should be discarded for your child’s safety. GETTING STARTED 1. Make sure the unit is turned OFF. 2. Locate the battery cover on the bottom of the unit. Use a screwdriver to loosen the screw. 3. Install 4 new “AA” (LR 06) batteries following the diagram inside the battery box.
• • • • Do not dispose of batteries in fire. Do not attempt to recharge ordinary batteries. The supply terminals are not to be short-circuited. Only batteries of the same and equivalent type as recommended are to be used. PRODUCT FEATURES 1. ON/OFF BUTTON To turn the unit on, press the ON/OFF BUTTON. You will hear an opening melody and a friendly phrase. The unit will automatically enter the Free Play mode. ON OFF Creat 2. Press the ON/OFF BUTTON again to turn the unit off.
4. MODES OF PLAY The four modes of play include Free Play, Bright Flight, Tricky Travels, and Creature Feature. Press one of the activity buttons to select a mode. If an activity button is not pressed, the globe will automatically default to the Free Play mode. To preserve battery life, the VTech® Fly & Discover Globe™ learning toy will automatically turn off after several minutes without input. The unit can be turned on again by pressing the ON/OFF button. ACTIVITIES Free Play Mode 1.
3. If there is no input after 30 seconds, you will hear an encouraging phrase inviting you to play again. Bright Flight Mode Tricky Travel Bright Flight Instructions & Activities 1. Press the Bright Flight Button to enter this activity. You will hear a short tune and an introductory phrase. If you press the Bright Flight Button again, you will enter the Free Play mode. “Let’s fly to your favorite continent!” 2. You will be asked to find your favorite geographic location or animal.

If you fly to an incorrect location, the unit will identify it and ask you to keep finding the correct location. 5.
3. If you fly to the correct location, for example, the camel, you will hear a positive sound effect. Then the unit will identify the camel, where it lives, and play its sound. 5. If you answer incorrectly after three tries, the unit will ask you to try to answer a new question. CARE & MAINTENANCE 1. Keep the unit clean by wiping it with a slightly damp cloth. 2. Keep the unit out of direct sunlight and away from any direct heat source. 3.
TROUBLESHOOTING If for some reason the program/activity stops working, please follow these steps: 1. Please turn the unit OFF. 2. Interrupt the power supply by removing the batteries. 3. Let the unit stand for a few minutes, then replace the batteries. 4. Turn the unit ON. The unit should now be ready to play again.
