3. If the answering system is off, you may press on the telephone base to turn
on the answering system during an incoming call. The answering system
answers the call immediately if there is remaining time.
9.2 Outgoing Message
An outgoing message is the greeting callers hear when calls are answered by the
answering system.
The telephone is preset with a greeting that answers calls with “Hello, please leave
a message after the tone.” You can use this default outgoing message, or replace it
with your own.
9.2.1 Play Your Outgoing Message
Press MENU on the handset in idle mode to enter the main menu.
Press or on the handset, or press or on the telephone
base to highlight Answering sys, then press SELECT.
Press SELECT again to select Outgoing msg.
The handset displays OUTGOING MSG and announces “Outgoing msg, please
PLAY or RECORD.” Press PLAY.
9.2.2 Record Your Own Outgoing Message
Press MENU on the handset in idle mode to enter the main menu.
Press or on the handset, or press or on the telephone
base to scroll to Answering sys, then press SELECT.
Press SELECT again to select Outgoing msg.
The screen displays OUTGOING MSG. The handset announces, “Outgoing
msg, press PLAY or RECORD.” Press RECORD.
The telephone announces, “Record after the tone. Press STOP when you are
done.” After the tone, speak towards the microphone of the handset or
telephone base.
Press STOP when you nish recording.
The telephone automatically plays back the newly recorded Outgoing message.
Press STOP to stop the playback at anytime. After the Outgoing message
playback, press PLAY to replay the recorded Outgoing message, or RECORD
to record again if desired.

Your outgoing message can be up to 90 seconds in length.
Outgoing messages shorter than two seconds are not recorded.
